R24 ACH return code: Duplicate Entry
What R24 means
The receiving bank believes this payment is a copy of one it already received: the trace number, date, amount or other details match.

Why R24 happens
- The same file or batch was sent twice.
- A payment was retried while the first attempt was still being processed.
What to do next
If you sent the payment
- Check whether you sent the file or payment twice.
- If you already sent a reversal for the duplicate, make sure the customer is not corrected twice.
- If the payment was not a duplicate, tell your bank and send it again.
If you got the notice about your own account
- Check your statement to confirm you were charged or paid only once.
