What C04 means

C04 was the code a bank used to ask you to correct the name on the account. Nacha removed it from the rules in 2015, so banks no longer send it.

The US Treasury confirmed the removal in a 2016 Federal Register notice. A payments association summary gives the date as March 20, 2015. Some software code tables still list C04.

Is C04 still a valid NOC code?

No. Nacha removed change code C04 (Incorrect Individual Name/Receiving Company Name) from its rules in 2015. It no longer appears on the Federal Reserve NOC form or in current bank guides.
